One Thursday in-TO

One Thursday inTO from Jarrett Rusnak on Vimeo.

As a filmmaker new to Toronto, I have long been interested in connecting my various passions through my art. In no particular order, these passions are wandering aimlessly, three-down football, story telling, extreme conversations with perfect strangers, coffee shops, and a deep appreciation for understanding the nuances of the most cosmopolitan city in the world.

To this end, The Toronto Argonauts remain a powerful symbol of this city to me. They are a team of the people – a means by which we can come to know the spirit of this city. It is in this spirit that I present my latest work.

There was something magical about that game in Varsity Stadium last Thursday. I implore anyone in a position of means to make more games at Varsity a viable option. I realize this idea is approximately great big and gynormous, but really, all the best ideas are.

This film was created out of 2,500 photographs, shot on location in The Brickworks, The Beaches, Yorkville, and Varsity Stadium.

Music was written and performed by Toronto indie band, Cai.ro  I watched them live at NXNE in bar on Queen Street West a couple weeks back. Outstanding group. They happily granted permission for their music to be used in this video. You can thank ’em by liking them on Facebook and finding ’em online.

It is my sincere hope that this video moves you as much as it has for me to make it. Feel free to share your thoughts.
