Half Time: Argos 21 – Riders 16
by JARRETT RUSNAK
The story thus far has been all about me.
Having moved to Toronto from Regina eleven months ago, I couldn’t quite shake my habit of wearing my green jersey for Rider games – or feeling bouts of undiluted pleasure whenever the Riders do something good, like take the field in Mosaic stadium for example.
So I’m wandering around the halls of Argos’ HQ enroute to Room 31 for a bit of blogging & facebooking with fellow Argonaut creatures, and everyone’s kind of looking at me funny. There was also that moment in the 1st quarter when Ricky Ray threw an interception and I made a noise that sounded kind of happyish. I felt scorn being rained down upon me.
I did manage to contain myself on subsequent plays as the Riders hung 16 first half points on the Argos’ defence. Didn’t even pout that much when Ricky Ray engineered a brilliant 11 play, 75 yard, 4 minute touchdown drive at the end of the second quarter. One of the best drives of the season in my humble opinion.
So there it is. My heroic effort to NOT be completely biassed towards the team I love as I write for the team I’ve adopted.
Gonna log into some internet message boards now and proceed to write drunken anonymous posts about how great my team is (won’t say which one).
